She is one

She is one beautiful little girl.

She is one of God’s children.

She is one warrior.

She is one princess.

She is one daughter.

She is one year old.

Blog name change: Sun and Clear Pebbles

I’ve been thinking about changing the title of my blog for awhile.

Until today, it was ‘Mourning. Heaven. And You.’ This came from a poem I wrote when I was 19,

I fall.
Draw my last breath.
Wish morning would come.
Stars bleed out
of the hole in the universe’s

I fall.
Do you see me?
Wish night would come.
The sun dies.
Eternity is like the twilight

I fall.
Dream for ever.
Wish I knew where home was.
And you.
I pray now.
Hold me in the palm of your

I like this poem. It’s one of my favourites that I have written, which is why I used it as the name of this blog. But I feel that it doesn’t represent my blog all that way. It seems to imply that I write a lot about mourning, and I don’t. People frequently find my blog searching for ways to cope with mourning, and I’ve always felt kind of bad about that. So I’ve been trying to find a new title.  I thought about using a line from one of my other poems. I thought about using a line from the same poem my URL is from. But then I decided to just use my URL. It would make things a whole lot easier.

So now, my blog is called ‘Sun and Clear Pebbles.’

This comes from a Mary Oliver poem, Wild Geese,

You do no have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
